FAQ
-
Is the first visit actually free?
Yes! We do this to ensure you’re in the right place. We do things differently at Thrive, which means we might not be the best fit for everyone. This visit allows you to decide if you want to go on a second date with us.

What happens at the Discovery Visit?
This is a 30-minute free session that forms the first step in the doctor-patient relationship. We get to know each other and decide if working together is in the best interest of both individuals. There will be a health history and physical assessment performed to try and nail down the root cause of your pain. We will then discuss types of treatments that will benefit your condition, and a general prognosis will be reached by the end of the Discovery Visit. You should have a clear understanding if you’re in the right place, or if you need to be somewhere else

I've committed to coming to the Evaluation/First Session. What can I expect?
This will be the first paid session. There will be a 60-minute treatment session that will include manual therapies (acupuncture, adjustments, soft tissue work) and rehab/exercises/mobility to help reinforce the changes we are trying to make. This will allow you to physically experience the type of treatment you’ll get at Thrive. After treatment is performed, we discuss and decide if you would like to continue with a Plan of Care, which typically ranges from 10-24 sessions based on your goals.
-
Do acupuncture needles hurt?
Rarely! The needles are extremely thin, and often just feel like pressure is being put on the muscle. There is occasional discomfort depending on the location of treatment, but most times the uncomfortable sensation is gone within 1-2 seconds.
-
What should I wear to treatments?
Please wear loose clothing, especially in areas where treatment is being performed.
-
Does insurance cover the cost of treatment?
Yes! But it is your responsibility as the policy owner to review your coverage and make sure chiropractic is covered. Direct billing is also offered. No doctors note necessary.
-
What other services do you provide?
We also sell custom orthotics, medical grade compression socks, and at-home TENS units - all of which are commonly covered by your insurance! All you’ll need is a note from your family doctor. This is what your insurance provider will require to cover the costs. Remember, it is your responsibility to check what your insurance covers as I have no way to access this information.

I see the word "exercise" and "rehab" a lot. Should I expect to be doing full workouts during my sessions?
Although exercise and rehab is a vital part of a treatment plan at Thrive, we are not here to provide full work out plans for weight loss or other fitness related goals. Our goal is to allow you to continue doing those activities you love, whether that’s CrossFit, F45, golfing, pickleball or just playing with your kids. Or, ideally, performing them at a higher level than what you’re currently at!

What conditions do you treat with acupuncture?
Mostly everything that comes through my door can be treated with acupuncture. Headaches, shoulder pain, hip pain, groin pain, and general neck and low back tightness respond exceptionally well. Other symptoms like jaw pain, nerve pain (tingling, burning, numbness) or general physical performance can all respond well to acupuncture.
